Becky Suss (b. 1980, Philadelphia) is a contemporary painter who lives and works in Philadelphia, PA. She creates large-scale paintings of domestic interiors that explore ideas of intimacy, domesticity, and memory, using flattened architecture, exaggerated proportions, and distorted perspective to mirror the plasticity of memory. Her work often questions stereotypes of domesticity as they relate to the lives of women in America, and she is inspired by her own personal heritage and the generations of women in her family who managed the domestic sphere without recognition. Suss received her MFA from University of California, Berkeley and her BA from Williams College, and was awarded a 2019 Pew Fellowship in the Arts.
