Brinsley Tyrrell

Brinsley Tyrrell is an 84-year-old British-born sculptor and Professor Emeritus at Kent State University, where he headed the sculpture department for 27 years before retiring in 1996. Based in Freedom Township, Ohio, he works primarily with sculpture, ceramics, enamels, and drawings, creating both intimate studio works and large-scale public commissions. His work explores themes of land, nature, and place, with recent pieces addressing the COVID-19 pandemic through ceramic sculpture.
