Cyrus Highsmith

Cyrus Highsmith (born 1973) is an American typeface designer, illustrator, author, and graphic artist who teaches type design at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He founded Occupant Fonts in 2016, which was acquired by the Japanese type foundry Morisawa in 2017, where he serves as Creative Director for Latin Type Development. In early October 2025, his exhibition 'Everywhere I Go: Sketchbooks from Cyrus Highsmith' opened at the Providence Public Library's Joan T. Boghossian Gallery, displaying through December. He currently runs Occupant Fonts as a brand of Morisawa, Inc. and is working on a new Korean-language children's book featuring his artwork.
