Julia Holmaas

Julia Holmaas is a watercolor and oil painter based in LaPorte, Indiana, who retired from the National Park Service in 2004 where she served as Chief of Interpretation at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and initiated the Indiana Dunes Artist in Residence Program. She currently serves as board president of The Art Barn School of Art, teaches watercolor classes, and is a founding member of Duneland Plein Air Painters. Her work focuses on landscapes, flowers, trees, animals, and people, often creating small plein air oil paintings and transparent watercolors inspired by places she has visited in the US, Mexico, and Italy.
