Mauricio Muñoz

Mauricio Muñoz (b. 1993, Tijuana) is a contemporary artist who explores elements of pop culture to analyze power dynamics, often racist and classist, within queer communities. Their artwork primarily takes the form of performance, video, painting and immersive installations. Muñoz co-directs Deslave, an artist-run space and curatorial project in Tijuana, and has exhibited work examining topics like celebrity culture, discrimination on LGBTQ+ dating apps, and queer identity through exhibitions at venues including Best Practice in San Diego and CECUT in Tijuana.
