Peter Christian Johnson is a ceramic artist and Professor of Art at Kent State University, USA. The porcelain grid systems he creates often begin as digital renderings that are meticulously fabricated by hand, becoming structures over which to stretch a fluid skin that is allowed to warp or collapse under the strain of firing. He is a four-time winner of the Ohio Arts Council's Individual Artist Excellence Award, was awarded first place in the 2018 Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics, and was recently part of the 61st and 62nd editions of the Faenza Prize in Italy. He was selected for the Perspectives Festival 2025 in Belgium, participating in the Authentique exhibition in May-June 2025.
