Ruben Ulises Rodriguez Montoya (b. 1989) is a multidisciplinary sculptor and myth-maker currently residing in Mexico City. His practice creates fantastical hybrid beings—'Nahuales'—from silicone and reclaimed materials salvaged from deserts and streets, exploring border culture, violence against communities of color, and speculative post-apocalyptic futures through the lens of Mesoamerican cosmology and magical realism. He received his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020 and is represented by Sargent's Daughters in New York.
