Arizona Arts Commission Grants - Local Organizations Funded

Arizona Commission on the Arts distributed $2.5M in grants, including funding for Lake Havasu Area Public Art and local symphonic winds.

The Arizona Commission on the Arts recently distributed $2.5 million in grant funding throughout the state, with $16,800 awarded to organizations in Mohave County and the Town of Parker. Local recipients included Lake Havasu Area Public Art and the Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds orchestra, each receiving $800 under the Creative Capacity Grant program. The River City Community Theatre Players of Bullhead City received $1,600, while the Kingman Center for the Arts was awarded $8,600. Additionally, the Parker Cultural Fall Festival received $5,000 under the commission's Festival Grant. This funding comes from a one-time $2 million appropriation approved by the Arizona legislature to support the state's arts and culture sector. The Arizona Commission on the Arts aims to extend creative expression throughout the state, recognizing that arts are essential to Arizona's vibrant communities and diverse cultures. According to Executive Director Christina You-sun Park, the state invests in a thriving nonprofit arts sector that drives local economies, contributes to community vibrancy and livability, enhances youth education, and promotes resident health and well-being. Organizations like Lake Havasu Area Public Art (HAPA) have operated since 2015, providing guidance for local artists and leading the creation of nine murals throughout the city. The Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds has performed since 1998, offering patriotic music and American compositions in multiple concerts each year.
