dlr Primary Arts Programme - Artist Positions (Ireland)

Six paid artist positions for classroom work with primary school children in Ireland. €2,653 total compensation per artist position.

The dlr Arts Office and Blackrock Education Centre seek six professional artists for their Primary Arts Programme, supporting creative education in Irish primary schools from October 2025 to May 2026. This established programme pairs artists with teachers and classes to deliver process-based, inclusive arts experiences that prioritize exploration over final products. Artists work 24 hours directly with children and teachers in classrooms, plus additional time for planning, research, and blog contributions. The programme welcomes artists from all artforms and encourages applications from those experienced with disabilities, Irish language facilitation, and diverse backgrounds. Each artist receives €2,653 total compensation: €1,528 for classroom hours, €550 for preparation, €300 for blog contributions, €275 for teacher meetings, and €100 per mandatory meeting. Three required meetings occur at Blackrock Education Centre on October 21, 2025, January 20, 2026, and May 12, 2026. Artists must demonstrate professional experience working with children in classroom settings and commit to sharing experiences through the programme's blog for the wider school community.
