Kent Downtown Digital Art Projection Project
Digital artists can showcase work projected downtown for one year. $500 honorarium for up to 5 selected artists.
The Kent Arts Commission is inviting digital media artists to participate in the Kent Downtown Digital Art Project, offering a unique opportunity to showcase work in the city's historic downtown area. Selected artists will have their digital artworks projected at Kent-Kherson Park for one full year, reaching audiences in a dynamic public art setting. Up to five artists will be chosen to present one to three artworks each, with pieces limited to five minutes or less in length. Sound components are welcome but not required. Each selected artist receives a $500 honorarium as part of the $2,500 total program budget. The projection site features engaging space-themed elements including a Lunar Rover replica, life-sized astronaut, Lunar Lander, and Mission Control play elements, providing a unique backdrop for digital art presentations. Artworks will be displayed on a rotating loop during evening hours, typically from dusk until 11 p.m., ensuring maximum public visibility. Technical specifications require final videos in 1920×1080 resolution, compressed with H264 Codec in MP4 or MOV format, with a 1GB file size limit. The Kent Arts Commission staff will collaborate with selected artists to optimize presentations and create promotional materials while artists retain full rights to their submitted works. This opportunity is open to all artists residing in the United States.
