TC Mural Festival - Traverse City Public Art Event
Inaugural mural festival featuring seven walls painted over one creative week in Traverse City's NoBo neighborhood, September 12-17, 2025.
The TC Mural Festival is an inaugural public art event led by volunteers from the Traverse City Arts Commission, taking place September 12-17, 2025. The festival aims to enhance the vitality of the Grand Traverse region through artful placemaking that builds on the community's cultural resources. Seven walls will be transformed by artists working in the NoBo neighborhood's Eighth Street corridor, from Lake Avenue to Barlow Street. The festival includes multiple community engagement events: an opening celebration at Commongrounds featuring the 'Everyday Acts of Art' exhibition, family-friendly art activities on Sunday including printmaking at the Traverse Area District Library and collaborative chalk art at Old Town Playhouse, an artist panel discussion on Tuesday evening exploring public art and community interaction, and a closing parade on Wednesday starting at Oryana and ending at The Filling Station where visitors can meet the artists and celebrate the completed murals. The event encourages community participation and offers opportunities to watch murals come to life throughout the week. Visitors can explore the corridor by walking, biking, or using the Old Town Parking Garage if driving.
