Texas Cultural District Project Grants
Funding for arts projects in Texas designated cultural districts to stimulate economic development and community vitality.
The Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) offers Cultural District Project grants to support projects that use the arts to diversify local economies, generate revenue, and attract visitors and investment. These grants are available to qualifying resident arts organizations within the 57 designated cultural districts across Texas, including four newly designated districts in Austin, Odessa, and Kerrville. The grants aim to harness the power of cultural resources to stimulate economic development and community vitality, generate business, attract tourists, stimulate cultural development, and foster civic pride. Recent funding examples include a $25,000 grant for disaster recovery assistance and $135,000 in National Endowment for the Arts funding supporting various programs including high school poetry competitions, folk arts apprenticeships, and art experiences for young patients and their families at hospitals. To be eligible, organizations must be located within officially designated cultural districts, which are special zones recognized by the state for their cultural significance and potential for economic impact.
