Vancouver's Urban Forest Digital Art Program
Artist residency program focusing on creating digital artworks that highlight urban forest conservation through technology and community engagement
The Vancouver Park Board, in partnership with the Museum of Anthropology, announces a unique residency program combining environmental awareness with digital art. This six-month residency provides artists with the opportunity to create works that interpret and celebrate Vancouver's urban forest through various digital mediums. Selected artists receive a monthly stipend of $4,000 CAD, access to advanced technical equipment, and collaborative opportunities with environmental scientists and indigenous knowledge keepers. The program emphasizes projects that use technology to visualize environmental data, create interactive experiences, or develop innovative ways to engage the public with urban forest conservation. Residents will have access to the city's environmental data archives and forest management resources. The residency culminates in a major public installation or exhibition at multiple sites throughout Vancouver's park system. Artists are expected to conduct community workshops and participate in public discussions about urban forest conservation through their artistic practice. International applications are welcome, with housing assistance provided for non-local artists.
