America Auction

Auction of Maurizio Cattelan's 'America' (2016), a fully functional toilet fashioned from over 100 kilograms of solid 18-karat gold. The artwork was previewed in a bathroom installation at Sotheby's Breuer Building, with visitors allowed inside one at a time for close-up viewing. This is the only extant version of the sculpture, following the theft of a second version at Blenheim Palace in 2019.
