Ash on Everything

A solo exhibition of new paintings by Bronx-based artist Kenny Rivero. The artist depicts folded notes throughout many paintings, tucked within pants waistbands or under baseball mitts, aflame in the sea, dangling from strings tied to open hands, and emerging from sliced apples. In a series of trompe l'oeil style paintings, Rivero captures the notes unfolded, revealing code-inscribed pieces of paper. The indecipherable notes and their carefully folded counterparts situate each painting as chapters of an untold epic, threads that weave together the fabric of the artist's imagined universe.
