About the Exhibition
This exhibit explores the dynamic history of the Latino community in Berkeley from 1900 to 2025, highlighting resilience, activism, and cultural contributions. From early migrant laborers and railroad workers to student organizers, artists, educators, and community leaders, all have left their mark. The exhibit presents local Latino stories of pride, labor and activism through photographs, oral histories, and community art and artifacts, spanning from the 20th century to the present day. A centerpiece of the exhibit is an interactive census map showing the changing population of people with Mexican roots who lived in Berkeley over the decades since the early 1900s.
