About the Exhibition

A 35-foot interactive installation structure with walkable pathways created as a tribute to the life-giving forces of the sun and the ocean. Inspired by crochet, which the artist learned from his grandmother, the piece transforms this traditional Brazilian craft into a massive, enveloping structure that engages the body and the mind. The structure is made of vibrant orange, yellow and green paracord hand-woven by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto. Visitors are required to sign a waiver, remove their shoes, and wear museum-issued socks. The highest point of the pathway is lifted 12 feet off the ground, and the entire structure moves as people walk through it.
