About the Exhibition

The exhibition features 33 iconic black-and-white photographs by 15 renowned photographers, dating primarily from the 1920s to the 1980s. Nearly all of the images are gelatin silver prints made from negative film, known for their exceptional depth and clarity. The images offer an overview of jazz music and movement captured with professional accuracy, spanning three generations and documenting the histories of individuals and occurrences in front of and behind the camera. Featured jazz musicians include Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Eric Dolphy, and John Coltrane.
