About the Exhibition
From Pittsburgh steel to New York skyscrapers, pioneering photographer Lewis Hine used his camera to reveal the human stories behind America's industrial rise. His striking images of immigrants, child laborers, and working-class communities in the early 20th century captured the realities of a rapidly changing nation and transformed photography into a powerful tool for change. Comprising over 70 rare vintage photographs from the private collection of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg, this exhibition includes some of Hine's most famous images of newly arrived immigrants at Ellis Island, children at work, the steel industry in Pittsburgh, and the construction of the Empire State Building.
