Nathaniel Meyer: Under Swift Sunrise

A solo exhibition that walks a perilous tightrope between great art historical precedents and kitsch. The exhibition features idealistic, borderline schmaltzy portrayals of imagined Maine islands. By pairing a highfalutin concept of 'longing itself' with stylized depictions of the artist's home coastline, the coastline itself seems to detach from Maine and become a mirage of some other otherworldly idyll. The title comes from Tolkien's vision of the Undying Lands.
