About the Exhibition
The 36th São Paulo Biennial features large-scale installations organized into six 'chapters' that establish theoretical frameworks spanning notions such as care, belonging, extraction, encounter and transformation in our relationship to the earth. The exhibition takes its cue from Afrobrazilian poet Conceição Evaristo's enigmatic poem Da calma e do silêncio [Of calm and silence], exploring humanity as an active practice and focusing on migration, encounter, care, and coexistence.
