About the Exhibition
The exhibition documents the history of the Black civil rights movement in Los Angeles through art and photography. More specifically, the exhibition considers the many ways photography fostered Black empowerment and propelled social change. The exhibition is divided into eight sections and brings together more than 150 artworks in a range of media, including video art, paintings, collages, contact sheets, newsletters, and magazines.
