Projection and Confession: Self-Portraits

The exhibit displays nearly 50 self-portraits of local and regional artists, many of which were created just for this show over the last 4 months. Self-portraits were created in oil and acrylic paint, watercolor, pastel, graphite pencil, collage, fiber, art quilt, batik, mixed media, knitting, and ceramics. The artists were asked to reveal something about themselves in their self-portraits. Work by 51 New Mexico artists (48 women, 3 men) is featured in this exhibition conceived as a way to inspire artists to look within during an era of stress-intensifying overstimulation.
