The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection
About the Exhibition
For over 60 years, Dr. Seuss's illustrations have brought a visual realization to his fantastic and imaginary worlds. His artistic talent went far beyond the printed page. Throughout his lifetime, Theodor Seuss Geisel created paintings and sculptures, which he secreted away at the Dr. Seuss Estate. This exhibition showcases both his well-known children's book illustrations and The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss, a collection of artwork he created at night for his own enjoyment. The collection includes his three-dimensional Unorthodox Taxidermy sculptures featuring imaginary creatures, book illustrations showing both original sketches and final works, and various paintings where Dr. Seuss often depicted himself as a cat witnessing the scenes he created.
