Three Generations Intertwined by Lace
Arango, Lisa Cappalli, Cecilia Cappalli
March 15, 2026 - January 9, 2027
About the Exhibition
The exhibit spotlights the Cappalli family's work from grandmother to granddaughter, and showcases over 80 years of Puerto Rican fashion history and the evolution of the island's traditional lacework. The exhibition showcases the Puerto Rican bobbin lace technique called mundillo, which is done entirely by hand. The exhibit spotlights both traditional Puerto Rican craft and Caribbean fashion evolution over time — from Arango's mid-century silhouettes to mother-daughter duo Lisa and Cecilia, who have their own womenswear brand, Cappalli New York.
