10th Annual Plein Air Paint Out in St. Augustine
Artists globally invited to paint outdoors in St. Augustine's historic downtown during March and April 2026 weekends.
The St. Augustine Art Association (STAAA) is hosting the 10th Annual Plein Air Paint Out, welcoming artists from around the globe to capture the city's Old-World charm on canvas. This outdoor painting event celebrates the European impressionist tradition of plein air painting, allowing artists to paint directly from nature and their surroundings. The event will take place over two weekends: March 20-22 and April 24-26, 2026, throughout downtown St. Augustine's historic streets, sidewalks, and lawns. Artists will set up at designated locations to paint the city's Spanish-style architecture, brick-lined streets, and coastal landscapes. Registration is required for participation. For the March event, the registration fee is $30 for STAAA members and $50 for nonmembers, with a deadline of March 13, 2026. For the April event, fees are $45 for members and $60 for nonmembers, with registration due by April 17, 2026. The public is invited to watch artists at work throughout the event. Finished and works-in-progress paintings can be viewed and purchased at the Wet Room (22 Marine St.), open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional exhibition opportunities include a non-juried Pop-up Exhibit and Closing Party on April 26 from 4-6 p.m. at STAAA, and a juried exhibit running from November 19, 2026, to February 8, 2027, at the St. Johns County Administration Building Rotunda Gallery.
