2026 Calendar Project - UNM Bookstores Artist Call
UNM Bookstores invites students, alumni, faculty, and staff to submit artwork for a 2026 calendar celebrating New Mexico culture and the Lobo community.
The University of New Mexico Bookstores has launched a creative initiative celebrating the spirit and talent of the Lobo community through a 2026 calendar project. This opportunity invites UNM students, alumni, faculty, and staff to submit artwork that highlights the creativity and culture of New Mexico through the eyes of the Lobo community.
The project is themed "What New Mexico Means to You," encouraging artists to capture the beauty, culture, and character of the state through their unique perspectives. Artists are invited to draw inspiration from the people, places, and landscapes that define the New Mexico community.
Thirteen artists will be selected for this project: one artist for each month of the calendar plus one additional artist for the cover design. Selected artwork will be featured prominently in the 2026 calendar, which will be distributed during the holiday season and later made available as a free digital download for the entire community to enjoy.
Beyond calendar inclusion, each selected artist will receive additional recognition and promotion. Selected artists will be invited to participate in dedicated social media video interviews where they can share their personal story and creative journey with the UNM community and beyond.
According to Coline Bernal, Sr. Marketing Representative for UNM Bookstores, "Our goal with this initiative is to shed light on the incredible talents within our community and celebrate the artists behind the art." This project represents a commitment to showcasing and supporting creative talent within the university community.
