2026 Chilliwack Mural Festival Artist Call
Open call for muralists and musicians to participate in the 2026 Chilliwack Mural Festival. Applications now open for both disciplines.
The Chilliwack Mural Festival is seeking talented muralists and musicians to participate in its 2026 festival. This annual event transforms Chilliwack's downtown core into an open-air celebration of creativity and culture, featuring large-scale public art, live music, and community programming. The festival is presented by the Chilliwack Arts Council and invites artists from the Fraser Valley, across Canada, and internationally to help shape how Chilliwack sees itself through public storytelling.
Muralists are invited to create large-scale murals at several chosen Chilliwack sites before the three-day festival. The curatorial team selects muralists based on specific site needs informed by community input, cultural representation, local history, storytelling, and artistic style. Curators evaluate hundreds or thousands of submissions annually, focusing on the quality of artistic work, experience with large to mid-scale projects, and design and composition skills.
Musicians should perform original music with strong songwriting and technical skill. The festival seeks artists who bring energy and presence to live performances, connect with audiences, fit the festival atmosphere, are professional and prepared for a live environment, and contribute to diverse genres and voices.
Muralist applications are open from January 6 to January 27, 2026. Musician applications close on January 31, 2026. Selected applicants will be notified by March 15, 2026. The festival takes place August 14-16, 2026.
The festival's tagline is "Express yourself on the walls of Chilliwack." Due to high volume submissions, only successful applicants will be contacted.
