2026 Downtown Zeeland Mural Project
Open call for West Michigan artists to create murals and enhance downtown Zeeland's public art atmosphere.
The City of Zeeland is launching an open call for West Michigan artists to participate in the 2026 Downtown Zeeland Mural Project. This exciting initiative aims to enhance the city's atmosphere through engaging public art and continue shaping the visual identity of downtown Zeeland.
According to Abby deRoo, marketing director of the city of Zeeland, this project represents an exciting opportunity for artists to contribute to the community's creative vision. The city is seeking proposals that will bring vibrancy, energy, and a sense of place to the downtown area.
Artists interested in participating must submit complete mural proposals that include detailed information on budgets and the mural's design process. Selected artists will be expected to collaborate with the city of Zeeland on design specifics and promotional efforts throughout the project.
The submission deadline is April 30, 2026. Following the submission period, finalist interviews will be conducted in early May, after which winning artists will be selected and assigned to specific mural spaces throughout downtown. All murals are expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for artists to gain public recognition, create large-scale public art, and contribute meaningfully to their community.
