2026 Putnam County Mural Festival Call for Artists

Putnam County Mural Project seeks muralists for six paid public art commissions across Indiana communities this September.

The Putnam County Mural Project (PCMP) has issued a call for artists for the upcoming 2026 Putnam County Mural Festival, inviting muralists from across the United States — both local and national — to apply for six new major mural commissions to be installed throughout the county this September. Since its founding in 2019, the Putnam County Mural Project has worked to enrich lives through large-scale public art by activating space, building artistic capacity and celebrating community identity. PCMP's committee of arts, education, tourism, business and nonprofit professionals believes in the power of murals to create civic pride, spark community dialogue and widen access to art for residents and visitors alike. The organization has garnered local, state and national attention, beginning with Indiana's largest mural on four grain silos in Greencastle. The project has since expanded through collaborative mural festivals, producing murals in communities including Greencastle, Bainbridge, Reelsville, Russellville, Roachdale, Cloverdale and Fillmore, engaging thousands of community members over multiple years. Selected artists will work closely with the PCMP team and community stakeholders to design and install murals that reflect the character, history and aspirations of the communities hosting them. Six walls across Putnam County have been identified for installations: Moose Lodge wall (212 W. Franklin St., Greencastle), Three G Bowling Alley wall (1250 S. Jackson St., Greencastle), The Bodega wall (16 S. Jackson St, Greencastle), Putnam County Comprehensive Services wall (630 Tennessee St., Greencastle), Shady Dale Chic Boutique wall (9 Market St., Cloverdale), and Dillinger Building wall (22 W. Washington St., Greencastle). These visible, community-accessible sites offer muralists unique canvases to create work that resonates both locally and beyond.
