2026 Veteran Arts Showcase for Military Women

Call for military women artists, writers, performers, and models for May 2026 exhibition celebrating women veterans through the arts in Alamogordo, NM.

Otero Arts is inviting local military women—both active-duty service members and veterans—to participate in the 2026 Veteran Arts Showcase. This month-long exhibition and series of events, titled "Empowering Women Veterans Through the Arts," will run throughout May 2026 at Otero Artspace in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

The showcase seeks submissions from visual artists, writers, and performers who are connected to the U.S. military. Additionally, Otero Arts is recruiting 20 amateur models for a special photography project called "Portraits of Military Women," whose images will be exhibited as part of the showcase.

Visual artists must download the official application and artist guidelines from the Otero Arts website. Writers and performers should contact the Showcase Coordinator directly. Amateur models interested in the photography project should also reach out to the coordinator.

The application deadline is Friday, March 21, 2026. All selected exhibits and performances will take place at Otero Artspace, located at 1118 Indiana Ave., Alamogordo, NM 88310. The gallery is normally open Thursday–Sunday, 1–4 p.m.

The program is supported by New Mexico Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Sacramento Mountains Foundation. May events will include an opening reception on First Friday, May 1, a Women Veterans Empowerment Workshop, an open mic, and a closing drum circle. This women-focused edition continues Otero Arts' commitment to celebrating the creative and diverse voices of the military community in the Tularosa Basin.
