26th Annual Mount Desert Island Open

Non-juried community art exhibition at Shaw Jewelry in Northeast Harbor. All mediums welcome for artists with MDI connection.

The 26th annual Mount Desert Island Open is a non-juried community exhibition welcoming both professional and amateur artists with a connection to Mount Desert Island. This inclusive exhibition celebrates artistic diversity and community engagement through shared creative work.

The exhibition will be held at Shaw Jewelry located in Northeast Harbor, Maine. The opening reception takes place on Thursday, May 21, from 4–6 p.m., with the exhibition remaining on view through June 12, 2026. This provides a full three-week window for the community to view and appreciate the displayed artwork.

Accepted mediums are diverse and inclusive, encompassing painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and uncategorized work. This broad range of accepted mediums ensures artists working across various disciplines can participate and showcase their talents.

The only requirement for participation is that artists must have a close association with Mount Desert Island and possess a piece of artwork to share with the community. There are no jury fees, entry fees mentioned, or selective process—making this an accessible opportunity for local and connected artists.

Participation operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and organizers note that available space will fill quickly. This means interested artists should apply promptly to secure their spot in the exhibition. The non-juried nature combined with space limitations makes early registration essential.
