ACC CREATORS 2026 Residency Open Call

Five-month residency in Gwangju, South Korea for artists and interdisciplinary practitioners exploring speculative communities.

The National Asian Culture Center (ACC) announces the ACC CREATORS 2026 Residency Open Call, inviting artists, creators, and interdisciplinary practitioners to participate in a five-month residency program based in Gwangju, South Korea. This is the 11th edition of the program, which serves as a sustainable platform for experimental projects at the intersection of art and technology.

The 2026 theme, "Speculative Communities," examines designed and technologically mediated forms of community, addressing their potential and limitations in current and speculative social conditions. Projects are invited that engage with whether communities can continue to exist under such conditions, how they might take new shapes, and whether algorithms, non-human agents, and data can become integral participants in communal life.

The residency welcomes applications across three categories: Art and Technology (6 teams), Audiovisual (1 team), and Immersive Sound (1 team). A total of 8 teams or individuals will be selected, with teams consisting of up to two members.

Selected participants receive comprehensive support including project budgets between KRW 20,000,000-30,000,000, individual stipends of KRW 2,500,000 per participant, travel support, workspace, and accommodation. The residency runs from June 27 to November 30, 2026, with the program period spanning July through November and a final exhibition scheduled for November 20-29, 2026.

The program is open to artists, creators, researchers, engineers, and interdisciplinary practitioners working in art, media, design, architecture, engineering, and related disciplines capable of developing experimental projects aligned with the theme.
