Africa-Europe Culture Mobility Grants 2026

Connect & Create offers mobility grants for artists in sub-Saharan Africa or the EU with African ties. Up to 4,000 euros, deadline June 15.

Deadline: June 15, 2026

Artists and culture professionals based in sub-Saharan Africa, or in the European Union with demonstrable links to the African continent, are invited to apply for mobility grants under the Connect & Create strand of the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme. The third application deadline is June 15, 2026 at 23:59 CET.

Applicants must be over 18 and active in one of the following sectors: music, visual arts, performing arts, literature, film, media arts, cultural heritage, design, or related disciplines. They must be based in sub-Saharan Africa or the EU, with EU-based applicants demonstrating professional ties to Africa. Individual and collective applications are accepted, and applicants must have a clearly defined mobility project along with a contact, partner, or host organization in the destination country.

Implemented by the Goethe-Institut in partnership with Expertise France and Institut francais, the programme supports short-term mobility, prioritizing intra-African travel while also supporting Africa-Europe exchange. Projects may be physical, digital, or hybrid. Grantees can receive up to 4,000 euros per mobility project, with up to 195 grants awarded over the life of the programme. Applications are submitted online through the Goethe Application Portal (GAP) in English; supporting documents in other languages require a certified English translation. Applications are assessed on relevance to the programme's goals, the quality of the proposed mobility, the applicant's professional development potential, and the project's contribution to Africa-Europe cultural exchange.
