America 250 Grant Applications

Dutch Culture USA invites artists and cultural organizations to apply for grants celebrating 250 years of Dutch-American friendship and U.S. independence.

Dutch Culture USA is launching a special open call for grant applications marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States. This initiative celebrates 250 years of Dutch-American friendship and invites artists, cultural organizations, and heritage professionals to submit proposals for Dutch-American cultural heritage and artistic projects.

Eligible projects must illuminate Dutch contributions to U.S. independence, celebrate the shared history between the Netherlands and the United States, and strengthen the cultural profile of the Netherlands in America. Projects can take diverse forms including exhibitions, performances, research-based initiatives, and interdisciplinary projects that reach new audiences with this rich transatlantic story.

All artistic disciplines are eligible, with special consideration given to cultural heritage projects and multidisciplinary initiatives combining heritage with performing arts, contemporary visual arts, architecture, design, fashion, or digital art. Innovative formats, cross-border cultural exchange, and projects engaging new or younger audiences are particularly welcomed.

Grants typically range from €500 to €10,000 and can cover travel, accommodation, art transport, production, and PR costs for the Dutch component of projects. Projects must take place in the United States, though virtual collaborations are allowed. Special attention is given to projects outside New York City that foster regional cultural exchange.

Applicants must be professional artists, organizations, or institutions based in the United States or the Netherlands with demonstrated relevant professional experience. Personal projects, school assignments, and amateur activities are ineligible. A complete project budget and detailed budget plan specifying requested contributions and other income sources are required.
