Arizona America250 Public Art Initiative

Arizona artists invited to submit concepts for sculptures, installations, and mixed-media work celebrating the state's Five Cs for America's 250th anniversary.

The Arizona America250 Commission, in collaboration with the Flinn Foundation and Art State Arizona, is holding a statewide call for artists to help shape a signature public art initiative celebrating Arizona's iconic Five Cs — copper, cattle, cotton, citrus and climate — as part of the state's commemoration of America's 250th anniversary.

This public art effort invites creatives from across Arizona, including professional artists, emerging talent, students, and community-based designers, to submit concepts for sculptures, installations, and mixed-media work inspired by the forces that built Arizona's economy, identity, and cultural heritage.

The initiative is rooted in the Commission's mission to uplift diverse voices and tell Arizona's story through art that reflects the past, present, and future of the state. Artist submissions are open now through January 5, with selected artists to be notified on January 12.

The final installations will be unveiled at an opening reception on February 3 at the Flinn Foundation and will be showcased throughout 2025 as part of Arizona's America250 programming, including exhibitions at the Traveling Museum, Passport250, Operation Freedom March, and other statewide efforts that celebrate Arizona's unique contributions to America's 250-year story.

The partnership between the Flinn Foundation and Art State Arizona brings together longstanding support for arts and civic vitality with community arts expertise, ensuring statewide reach and representation from rural, tribal, and urban communities alike. This project provides a meaningful opportunity for Arizona's artists to create work that honors the state's heritage while looking forward to Arizona's next chapter.
