Art Commissions for Batemans Bay Community Health
Artists with regional connections invited to create artworks for new $20M community health facility. EOIs open until December 1, 2025.
Health Infrastructure is calling for artists with strong connections to the Batemans Bay area to contribute to the new $20 million Batemans Bay Community Health facility through art commissions. This is an exciting opportunity for artists at all career stages to have their work featured in a welcoming, healing environment that will serve patients, visitors, and staff.
The new purpose-built community health facility will deliver comprehensive community-based healthcare services in one location, significantly improving access to healthcare for Batemans Bay and surrounding communities. Artworks will be strategically displayed throughout the building to create a supportive atmosphere.
Two types of art commissions are available:
1. A single artwork that will be reproduced on the building's facade, providing significant visibility and impact
2. Multiple artworks for display in interview and consultation rooms throughout the facility
Artists are encouraged to submit expressions of interest by sharing examples of their existing work. There are no restrictions on career stage—emerging and established artists are equally welcome to apply. Health Infrastructure has partnered with South East Arts Inc, a regional arts development organization, to provide professional development support to local artists, including assistance with preparing submissions.
Construction of Batemans Bay Community Health is currently underway with completion expected in 2026. This project is part of a larger $330 million investment in the Eurobodalla Regional Hospital expansion, ensuring the new health facility complements an expanded range of health services for the community.
The commissioning process aligns with Health Infrastructure's Arts in Health program and the Health and the Arts Framework 2024-2032, which recognizes the vital role arts play in enhancing healthcare experiences.
