Art in Daily Spaces Exhibition 2026
Submit artwork for a community art exhibition transforming Annandale businesses into mini galleries. Theme: Journey of Belonging.
Art in Daily Spaces is returning for its third year in spring 2026, expanding beyond its successful format of placing juried artwork in local retail and institutional spaces such as hair salons, churches, and coffee shops. Funded by ArtsFairfax through a grant to Community Art for Everyone (CAFE), this exhibition addresses the lack of exhibit spaces in the Mason District community.
The 2026 edition introduces a new community art project component alongside the traditional artist exhibition. Local businesses will be transformed into temporary mini art galleries, extending art viewing beyond traditional gallery settings to reach a broader public audience.
This year's theme is "Journey of Belonging," inviting artists to express personal or metaphysical journeys through various two or three-dimensional mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and watercolors.
The exhibition opens with a public event on May 1, 2026, and runs through May 31, 2026. Successful participants will receive a $100 stipend for their involvement.
Artists can submit either existing works or create new pieces specifically for this exhibition. While not required, artists are encouraged to create new works that align closely with the Journey of Belonging theme.
