Art in Public Places Board - Three Open Positions

Los Alamos County seeks three community members for the Art in Public Places Board to shape public art and enhance community spaces.

The Art in Public Places (APP) Board of Los Alamos County is actively recruiting three new community members who are committed to enhancing public spaces and shaping the artistic landscape of the county. This is a meaningful opportunity for residents to influence how art enriches and beautifies public spaces while contributing to the cultural identity of Los Alamos County.

Board members play a vital role in multiple aspects of public art development and maintenance. Responsibilities include organizing calls for art and artists, gathering community input on public art projects, managing and preserving the county's public art collection, and contributing creative ideas for future installations. Through the APP fund, which is supported by 1 percent of capital improvement and road project budgets, the board acquires, installs, and maintains county-owned art, ensuring a lasting cultural legacy for future generations.

The board is committed to integrating art into municipal architecture, promoting public awareness, and creating visually inspiring spaces that reflect Los Alamos County's history and culture. Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a Los Alamos County resident
- Cannot be employed by Los Alamos County
- Cannot hold public office

- Applications due: Friday, January 30, 2026 at 5 p.m.
- Interviews: February 2026
- New terms begin: March 25, 2026
