Art on the Trails 10th Anniversary Call for Art

Submit artwork for the 10th annual Art on the Trails exhibition at Beals Preserve in Southborough. Theme: "Time in the Landscape."

Art on the Trails, hosted by the Southborough Open Land Foundation at Beals Preserve, is accepting submissions for its 10th annual summerlong outdoor exhibition. This milestone year features the theme "Time in the Landscape," inviting artists to consider the land as an active witness to change and memory.

Artists are encouraged to respond to questions such as: How does the land remember? What histories are embedded in soil, stone, trees, and water? How do seasons, climate, and natural cycles shape place over time? What traces do people leave behind as they move through the landscape?

The 2026 juror is Lisa Barthelson, a multidisciplinary artist and three-time exhibitor in the show. For the sixth consecutive year, accepted artists will receive a $100 stipend. Artists can also sell their installations, with 25% of fees donated to SOLF.

All submissions must adhere to the "Leave No Trace" policy—artwork must leave no permanent environmental impact and be installed without harm to surrounding trees or vegetation. The exhibition runs from June 13 through September 13, 2026, with trails open to the public from dawn to dusk.

Accepted artists must install their work on June 13th. The event is supported by the Southborough Community Fund, SOLF, the Southborough Cultural Arts Council, Mass Cultural Council, and local business sponsors.
