Art Prize 2026 Open Call

G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation seeks artists for large-scale sculptural installation in Crete. €15,000 award plus construction costs.

The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2026 is an international open call inviting contemporary artists to create a site-specific, large-scale sculptural installation for permanent display in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. This prestigious annual prize, established in 2019, promotes and financially supports contemporary artists while highlighting excellence in the visual arts.

The winning artist will receive €15,000 in funding, with the Foundation covering all construction costs. The selected proposal will be created between January and May 2026 and publicly presented in summer 2026, becoming a permanent landmark and integral part of the Foundation's art collection.

This opportunity welcomes visual artists working across diverse disciplines including sculpture, installation, sound installation, mixed media, works using natural materials, land art, environmental art, ecological art, and innovative practices that interweave art and nature to create engaging open-air experiences.

The Art Prize specifically seeks proposals that demonstrate originality, site-specificity, creative vision, and long-term sustainability. Artists are encouraged to develop works that will thrive in an outdoor setting and contribute meaningfully to the cultural landscape of Agios Nikolaos.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the dedicated form on the Foundation's website. The Foundation has been supporting artistic advancement for thirty years, making this a significant opportunity for artists seeking recognition and financial support for large-scale public art projects.
