Art Unleashed: Artists Sought for Labrador Statue Display

Design & paint life-sized Labrador statues for Charlottesville public art display. $300 plus 10% of auction proceeds. Benefits Service Dogs of Virginia.

Service Dogs of Virginia is launching Art Unleashed, a public art fundraiser featuring 20 life-sized Labrador Retriever statues throughout Charlottesville next summer. This community art project combines public art display with charitable fundraising, bringing together local artists, businesses, and dog lovers to support a meaningful cause. Selected artists will design and paint individual statues that will be displayed around the city for three months before being auctioned off. Artists receive $300 upfront compensation plus 10% of their statue's final auction sale price, providing both immediate payment and potential additional earnings. The statues will be strategically placed throughout Charlottesville during the summer display period, giving artists significant public exposure for their work. The project culminates with an auction on October 24, 2026, where all proceeds will benefit Service Dogs of Virginia's mission to provide trained service dogs to individuals in need. This opportunity offers artists a chance to contribute to their community while gaining visibility and compensation for their artistic talents.
