Artist & Programme Officer

Full-time position supporting authors and illustrators in Ireland through awards, conferences, and professional development programs.

Children's Books Ireland is seeking an Artist & Programme Officer to join their team and support their mission of promoting reading and excellent books for children and young people across the island of Ireland.

This newly created full-time role will support key programmes and events including the KPMG Children's Books Ireland Awards, the Children's Books Ireland International Conference, and professional development initiatives for authors and illustrators. The position will report to the Artist & Programme Manager and encompasses responsibilities previously held by a part-time Awards Administrator, with expanded capacity for artist support.

Key responsibilities include managing the Junior Juries programme recruitment and communications, coordinating artist visits to schools, supporting book-gifting initiatives, organizing social events for artists, and serving as the first point of contact for author and illustrator queries. The role requires working with shortlisted artists, schools, sponsors, and colleagues across communications, media relations, and event management.

Essential qualifications include strong knowledge of the children's book sector, previous experience working with artists, excellent communication and project management skills, and proficiency in MS Office and collaborative tools. Desirable qualifications include Irish language proficiency and a driving licence for island-wide travel.

The successful candidate will support the implementation of Children's Books Ireland's Artistic Policy, Child Protection Policy, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy. On-the-job training will be provided.
