Artist Talk: Reuse On the Runway

Join Austin Creative Reuse designers for an artist talk exploring sustainability and upcycled fashion design on February 3, 2026.

This is a professional development and community networking event hosted by Austin Creative Reuse at the Dougherty Arts Center. The event brings together participating designers from the annual Reuse On The Runway exhibition for an intimate behind-the-scenes discussion about their creative process and approach to sustainable fashion design.

Participants will hear directly from artists about their innovative design techniques, the unconventional and sustainable materials they incorporate into their work, and how the principles of reuse and upcycling inspire creativity in both fine art and everyday life. This is an excellent opportunity for artists, designers, students, and creative professionals interested in sustainable design practices to learn from experienced practitioners in the field.

The event takes place at the Dougherty Arts Center, one of Austin's premier cultural institutions. Attendees will gain insights into the intersection of environmental consciousness and artistic innovation, with emphasis on how creative reuse can transform discarded materials into wearable art and fashion pieces.

The Julia C. Butridge Gallery will also feature the Reuse On the Runway exhibit, providing visual context for the discussion. This event is free and open to the public, making it an accessible opportunity for community members to engage with contemporary sustainable art practices.

The City of Austin provides accessibility accommodations including reasonable modifications and language interpretation services upon request. Interpretation service requests should be made at least five days prior to the event.
