Artists and Makers Studios San Gabriel

Artists and Makers Studios (A&M Studios) has opened a new creative hub in San Gabriel, California, offering affordable studio spaces for working artists and makers. Located at 414 S. San Gabriel Boulevard, the facility opened in June 2025 and features 36 studios across two levels housed in a Public Storage building.

Founded by Judith Heartsong, an artist with extensive experience in the arts community, A&M Studios prioritizes supporting working artists by providing affordable rental options with no mandatory hours or volunteer requirements. The mission is to create accessible creative spaces for artists at all levels.

Studio rentals include a minimum one-year contract with comprehensive amenities: all utilities and WiFi, 24-hour access, elevator service, security system, cameras, dedicated parking, kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, and dedicated dining areas. Common areas include lounges for client meetings and classrooms available for rent ($100 for three hours, $175 for six hours).

A&M Studios goes beyond providing physical space by offering professional development opportunities, exhibition opportunities, social media support, and community recognition through local articles and mentions. Current resident artists and makers include Christina Scherer (painter), Kathy Yoshihara (collage, mixed media, gourds, ceramics), Gail Gonzales (design, photography), Jacqueline Perrealt (sculpture), Juan Luis Garcia (poster design, photography), and Lala Minassian (Art Therapy).

Currently, painter Christina Scherer's work is on exhibition in the gallery titled "I Used to Write Poetry" through December 13, 2025. The facility defines both artists and makers as welcome, recognizing that creative work deserves respect regardless of how practitioners define themselves. A North Hollywood location is currently under construction, expanding the organization's reach.
