Artists in Residence Exhibition at Burchfield Penney
Free exhibition showcasing artwork from pediatric patients at Golisano Children's Hospital, held at Burchfield Penney Art Center.
The 'Artists in Residence' event is a collaborative initiative between Golisano Children's Hospital and Kaleida Health, designed to celebrate the creative talents of young artists while promoting healing through art. This fourth annual exhibition was held at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York, providing Western New Yorkers with the opportunity to view and appreciate artwork created by pediatric patients at the hospital. The event was free and open to the public on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The primary goals of the event are to bring a sense of comfort and connection to pediatric patients by displaying their creative work, while also highlighting the therapeutic benefits of art in healthcare settings. As noted by Cynthia Ciminelli, co-owner of Advancing Revolutionary Construction, 'Art is healing. And it puts a smile on somebody's face and it helps continue to help them think about something else other than when is my doctor coming back in.' The exhibition serves as both a celebration of young artistic talent and an advocacy effort for the role of art in patient care and emotional well-being. This recurring annual event has become an established tradition in the Buffalo arts community, demonstrating the ongoing commitment of healthcare institutions to integrate creative expression into patient experiences.
