Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series: Wes Larsen

Free guest lecture featuring Wes Larsen, UW-Milwaukee Design & Visual Communication assistant professor, exploring contemporary visual art practices.

The Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes Wes Larsen, an assistant professor of Design & Visual Communication at UW-Milwaukee, for an evening of artistic discussion and inspiration. This free event is part of a broader initiative that welcomes diverse nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional, hybrid, and emergent disciplines.

Wes Larsen's artistic practice spans graphic art, performance, writing, and experimental publishing. His work focuses on the use of obfuscation and irreverence to call attention to the slippage between connotative and denotative interpretations. His recent works explore infiltration, subversion, and dissemination through economic modes of production including laser printing, serigraphy, RISO, commercial print-on-demand services, home recordings, and film photography.

Prior to his academic role, Larsen ran the independent design studio Tocco in Fort Worth, Texas, where he developed his distinctive approach to design and visual communication.

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series provides a platform for artists to share their work and methodologies. This series is designed for anyone with an interest in contemporary visual art to explore and expand the boundaries of creative visual practices alongside fellow enthusiasts and professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for artists, students, designers, and art enthusiasts to gain insights into contemporary artistic practice and network with others in the creative community.
