Arts Council Digital Artist in Residence - Ireland

€18,000 residency program at University of Galway for mid-career digital artists in Republic of Ireland.

The Arts Council Digital Artist in Residence programme at the University of Galway offers a significant opportunity for mid-career and established digital artists based in the Republic of Ireland. This residency provides a total fee of €18,000, with €13,000 contributed by the Arts Council and €5,000 from the university, paid in two installments directly from the Arts Council.

The program welcomes digital artists whose work aligns with the Arts Council's broad definition of digital arts, including data art, computer software, artificial intelligence, video, virtual and augmented reality, digital lighting, web-based art, streaming performances, online artwork sharing, streaming music, eBooks, and multimedia projects.

During the residency, artists receive dedicated desk space and shared studio access at the University of Galway, along with administrative support to facilitate their creative development. The university environment provides a supportive platform for artists to grow their practice and engage with Ireland's dynamic digital arts landscape.

Eligibility requires residency in the Republic of Ireland and a proven background in digital arts. Importantly, applicants must not have received public funding from the Arts Council or other sources for the activities they plan to develop during the residency. The Arts Council actively encourages applications from all individuals regardless of gender, sexual orientation, civil status, religion, age, disability, race, or membership of the Traveller Community, recognizing socioeconomic background as an important factor in ensuring equal opportunity.

At the residency's conclusion, artists must submit a final report summarizing their creative journey and outcomes, contributing to the program's documentation and future development.
