The Arts Council Digital Artist in Residence programme at the University of Galway offers a valuable opportunity for mid-career and established digital artists based in the Republic of Ireland. The residency provides a total fee of €18,000, with €13,000 contributed by the Arts Council and €5,000 from the university, paid in two instalments as direct financial support. The University of Galway provides dedicated desk space and shared studio access where artists can develop their creative work, along with administrative support throughout the residency. The programme is open to digital artists whose work aligns with the Arts Council's definition of digital arts, including data art, computer software, artificial intelligence, video, virtual and augmented reality, digital lighting, web-based art, streaming performances, online artwork sharing, streaming music, eBooks, and multimedia projects. Eligible applicants must be residents of the Republic of Ireland with proven background and expertise in digital arts. They must be mid-career or established artists who have not received public funding from the Arts Council or other sources for the activities they wish to develop during the residency. At the end of the residency, artists must submit a final report summarizing their creative journey and outcomes.
