Asian Arts and Culture Exhibit at Vancouver Arts Hub

Collaborative exhibition featuring 24 visual artists from 8 Asian cultural communities showcasing paintings, traditional art, instruments, ceramics, and more.

The Asian Arts and Culture Exhibit is a major collaborative celebration of Asian arts and heritage taking place at the Vancouver Arts Hub in Vancouver, Washington. This extensive exhibition spans approximately 12,000 square feet across the upper floor of the former Fort Vancouver Regional Library building, now repurposed as a gallery and event space.

The exhibit features work by 24 visual artists representing eight local cultural organizations: Korean, Laotian, Chinese, Tibetan, Thai, Japanese, Cambodian, and Vietnamese communities. The collection includes contemporary paintings by professional artists alongside traditional cultural treasures such as musical instruments, traditional clothing and headdresses, ceramics, lacquerware, jewelry, woodcarvings, paper puppets, and a Vietnamese basket boat.

Notable featured artists include retired architect Minh Quan Phan (87) with his watercolor paintings on silk, Hoang Kym with contemporary work, the late Nho Nguyen's textural wood paintings, oil painter Wayne Chin, woodblock printer Steve Wenshi Chan, and Tibetan musician Tamding Tsetan's calligraphy.

The exhibit includes live cultural performances featuring traditional Chinese lion dances, performances by the Vietnamese Community of Clark County, Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association, and Eternal Arts Kung Fu. All students from Vancouver Innovation, Technology and Arts Elementary will have the opportunity to tour the exhibit and view performances.

Organizer Minh Pham hopes to expand this annual celebration to include more Asian cultures including India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore in future years.
